Marco Balzli is a Swiss singer-songwriter known for his authentic, handcrafted songs and his soulful voice. Now in his mid-forties and deeply rooted in music, he looks back on a diverse artistic journey that has taken him from his indie-rock beginnings to the personal singer-songwriter style he embraces today.
His musical career began in 2000 when he joined a regionally renowned rock band. While rock music provided him with valuable stage and band experience, Balzli gradually realized over the years that his voice was not naturally suited to the classic rock frontman style.
Marco Balzli first gained wider public attention in 2013 when he appeared on The Voice of Switzerland, where he advanced to the Battle Rounds. Although his journey ended there, the experience laid the foundation for his solo career. Just one year later, in 2014, he released his album Those Days, featuring the single Marlene. The song received airplay on numerous Swiss radio stations and led to a small but successful tour across Switzerland.
While major commercial success remained elusive, Balzli experienced several unforgettable highlights throughout his career. Among them were performing as the opening act for the Alan Parsons Project and sharing the stage before Swiss music legend Polo Hofer—experiences that left a lasting impression on him and reinforced his artistic path.
Marco Balzli focuses on what truly matters to him: honest, handcrafted music with the voice at its center. His songs tell stories about life, encounters, dreams, expectations, and the experiences that shape us. Authentic, relatable, and full of emotion—these are the qualities that define the path he now continues to follow with complete conviction.
