Biography
It all begann in summer 2007. The singer and guitarist Martin Engeli played in a band which was on a long break. He wanted to go back to his roots, musically.
More rock - less punk. Therefore he was looking for a new band.
At the same time, Roman Heidelberger split up with his punk-band. He didn’t want to play in a punk-band anymore – which is understandable for a fanatic
Deep Purple Fan.
Sometime ago, he met a guitarist called Christian Sommer, who hasn’t played in a band for some time. He called him and it was clear that they wanted to form a rock-band. They started off in Christian’s old band-room, played some covers and jammed a lot.
After a short while they started to look for a singer. Then they tried it in the internet. They found a singer/guitarist from near by. Christian called him and they talked for a while. In this conversation it became clear that his expectations and visions were the same as Roman’s and Christian’s. His name was Martin Engeli.
A few days later they met to jam. They practiced several times in a new rehearsal room in Embrach.
They put together one cover and two own songs and in September 2007 they decided to definitely form a band. A new band from Zürich underland was born.
They played their first Gig in the rehearsal room. Martin’s brother Lukas joined in on bass and background vocals. He liked the songs so much that he also joined the band.
The still unnamed band composed some own songs. In November 2008 they had a set together. Now it was time for more gigs and a name.
They all agreed on Destiny’s Sidekick.
In December 2008 they played a headlining show at the Albani Music Club in Winterthur.
The concert was a big success for the band and the audience liked it.
After that they decided to make a record with three own songs on it, which was finished at the end of February 2009.
