Biographie
Dilpreet Bhatia :: Folk-Rock Singer/Songwriter and Freestyle Guitarist. Brought up in a working class sikh family in a small town of Haryana, India, his early music influences are his music teachers at school who taught him Ragas from Shri Guru Granth Sahib. After moving to Bangalore in 2003, he performed extensively as a solo artist and later got associated with the group called 'Freedom Jam'. From playing open mics and rocking performances in college fests to writing his own songs and recording a full-fledged solo album, Dilpreet has certainly come a long way as a musician; but with a phenomenal voice like his, its just the start.
Dilpreet's collaborations with Indian and International musicians include 6 times Grammy-Award Winning Mixing Engineer Ken Lewis, UK based Producer Shammi Pithia, and Award Winning Producer/Arranger Leslie Lewis of Colonial Cousins. He is also a devout disciple of PadmaShree Sumitra Guha Ji, an internationally renowned Hindustani Classical Vocalist.
His music ranges from Punjabi/Hindi Rock 'n' Roll to acoustic ballads to Punjabi folk rock melodies. His Debut Single 'Saanu ik Pal' is a classic tribute to Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan which represents Dilpreet at his unplugged intimate best. "I have always worn my heart on my sleeve. Writing what I write, it’s what makes me feel the most comfortable. I’d rather show the vulnerable side of me, than the side I’m expected to." Dilpreet recently finished recording his Debut Album 'ANHAD' which is produced by heavy-weight Producer Leslie Lewis . “Leslie and I have spent countless hours deliberating, fighting, and seeking compromise on what would make this music the best it could be." says Dilpreet. "So many exceptional musicians and engineers (like Ken Lewis, Ashish Manchanda, Neil, Leslie) have come together to work on this album and we’re both pretty damn excited about it".
