Biographie
Waldorf is a quartet made up of Kid Italy, Clark Steiner, Cathand Neitzsch and the Disghost. As Italy and Steiner, the two songwriters of the band, had been living in different cities for several years, they decided to create new music each on their own, and they agreed to finish seven songs each without showing them to one another and deliver them to their old friend and compilation specialist Vascock, who put them in the right order with his keen sense of the matter. Kid Italy and Clark Steiner also created two different album covers and gave the album two different titles. They will listen to and look at the album and read its full title only when it is released and in stores. A short documentary about this is planned and will be released on the band's website after the release.
Waldorf earned their fame in the early 2000s as one of
electroclash's pioneers. They were signed by ATOC, the label
which also discovered the Scissor Sisters, and released two successful EPs ("You're My Disco", 2001, featured in the motion picture "Partymonster", and "Fashionist", 2002, Top 10 in the italian dance charts). Legendary, eurythmy-inspired live performances in New York, Zurich, Barcelona a.o. were followed by their debut album "Age of Stupid" (ATOC, 2006), produced by Roli Mosimann (Faith No More, Marilyn Manson, Sugarcubes). Years later, after a long break, they decided to record the album at hand, reflecting the development of the songwriters' musical style and lyrical content.
