Biography
“Joni Mitchell once said : ‘I’ve looked at love from both sides now’ and with hindsight, this album is very much an exploration of this theme. Love in all of its shades. A lot of the songs were inspired by other people’s stories, but they also very much speak back to me, in the journey life has taken me on.”

In the late 2000’s, Jeanne settled in Finland. She founded a family, and tried hard to integrate, despite the difficulties of the language and complexities of not truly belonging. Eleven years later, with the brutal close of the Finnish chapter and before returning to her native Switzerland, Jeanne seized the opportunity to use a recording studio, at her local library. After learning the technical aspects of recording and in the safety of that cocoon, she recorded Songs From Another Room.
The album saw the light of day in December 2019. The creation of this album was her way to cry victory over what had been her most challenging, heart-rending year. The triumph of creativity over the darkness of the past months would allow her to begin anew, to live again, to rediscover her true self.
The images on the album’s cover render homage to Finland, to the beautiful places that embellished Jeanne’s experience there. She wished to close the Finnish chapter by immortalising those places that were most important to her, those that she had discovered and shared with people she cherishes. They are places to which she may not be able to return in the near future. These watercolour images are her renditions of photographs she has taken over the years.
The twelve tracks on Songs From Another Room take us straight into a warm and intimate world. With her haunting yet clear voice and guitarwork, and in pure folk & songwriting tradition, Jeanne offers a simple yet intoxicating line, reminiscent of Aldous Harding or Lou Rhodes’ solo work. Jeanne’s compositions have already been spotlighted in three music videos: Sea of Blue (Finnish coast), Anchored To You and Whisper to Me (both from Switzerland). Each of these is an invitation to delve inwards, an exploration as soothing as it is deep, as aching as it is healing. Each ebbs and flows like the tide and reflects her love of nature.
