jazzed - or: When something known meets something new
“Me, myself & Eddy” is an undisputedly mastered challenge for every jazz lover. Known and yet so new: Typical style, improvisation strategies, phrasing and intonation in retro style combined with the electronic variations of today - and a good portion of fun - all this is united in the project jazzed in “Me, Myself & Eddy”. Who is behind this? Eddy Sloof, born in the Netherlands and living in Switzerland, has long been active in the music business. With his latest project, he reinvents jazz –without using any acoustic instruments.
“Me, myself & Eddy” shows that musical communication can indeed be a one- man show - just like a traditional jazz ensemble. However, the recording, the process, the sequence - everything has its own approach. A successful experiment with no more than two takes per instrument and recording. The path was the goal: From song selection, recording, mixing and mastering - everything comes from one head and two hands, accompanied by the right touch of emotion, and yet, the special groove, the call and response and the swing of jazz are not lost.
“Me, myself & Eddy” is a mixture of 12 very different cover versions, including songs by Chick Corea, Michael Brecker and the bonus track Summertime. The work makes the joy of jazzed come alive and shows that even something known combined with something new becomes irresistible.
A truly musical pleasure!
