Swiss/English songwriter, keyboarder, organist, music and video producer
SalJo is the pseudonym for Sally Jo Rüedi, Swiss/British citizen, lives in Switzerland since 1995 in the Bernese Seeland, wide musical influences from an early age, has developed an individual musical style which lies somewhere between the modal harmonies and melodies of Celtic/English folk music and the emotion of an orchestral film score.
Sophie Katzmann makes music with passion and sensitivity. Her voice, like her own music, is strong, full of vitality, warm and unmistakable. Two own EPs: “Into the Trees” (2020) and “meod” (2015). Her own music is to be found between Electro Pop and singer-songwriter, with a touch of jazz and the occasional hint of the psychedelic.
“Ashes in the Morning Dew” is the first joint project between SalJo and Sophie Katzmann. Besides the audio track, which can be found on most digital audio platforms, there is also a music video of the song, produced by PhotoJo (also Sally Jo Rüedi), which can be viewed on YouTube. The backdrop for the video is the ruins of a burnt-out sawmill in Welschenrohr in Canton Solothurn. The song text tells of the heartfelt despair of losing something that you love and the hope that one day something greater will rise from the ashes. The sawmill was destroyed by an arson attack in November 2016. The criminal(s) was/were never brought to justice...
