Sophie de Quay & The WaveGuards was founded in Switzerland in 2016 by Sophie Loretan, Simon Jaccard and Tim Verdesca. The pop electro trio (keyboard, bass, looper, voices) released their first EP in 2017 then their first album "Drop The Mask" in 2018 that took them on tour on many Swiss and international scenes : such as the Montreux Jazz Festival and scenes in France, Belgium, Romania, Spain and New York City (Bowery Electric, Pianos, Rockwood Music Hall & art gallery in Soho where they performed for a vernissage) where Sophie use to live for 4 years.
Sophie was also invited to sing a duet with the famous artist Patrick Bruel on the stage of the Caribana Festival. Since the released of their album in March 2018, they performed more than 50 times.
Their music, a chemistry of pop, electro and acoustic, creates an intimist world which enhances Sophie’s powerful, yet moving and sensual voice. Her warm timbre reminds the great Adele or the young Marina Kaye. The band finds its inspiration in the new British and American scenes, such as Jack Garratt, Nao, 21 Pilots, Odesza, but one can also find influences from Muse and French artists such as Christine and the Queens or Stromae, with whom they share his official sound engineer, Lionel Capouillez.
Passionate they are constantly working on new creative projects.
