Far away in mind, in body and soul.
Miles apart I wonder how you are?
The distance now between us has taken its toll
and I'm bleeding from my heart.
I cannot say I blame you. I chose to let you go.
I still believe we're better apart.
But every now and then, when I feel so very alone.
The questioner sends in the dark.

Oh my God
What have I done?
Please forgive me
And set us free

Stars in the sky, the moon shines bright.
I'm still awake in the middle of the night.
Battling with an unseen foe, I don't know when it's going to go.
I still think the decision was right.
I know that you're in trouble now. I know that all's not well.
I wish that I could be with you to help.
And even though it's clear, my thoughts wander far.
And the questioner sends in the dark.

Oh my God
What have I done?
Please forgive me
And set us free

There are no rights and wrongs in the story of love.
The fool may have the answer to the rhyme.
But anyhow I know, I did the best I could.
Maybe it's just not time.
In my heart I know, wherever you go,
even though it might be far.
We will have a bond, keeping us whole.
And I will be with you in the dark.

The Questioner is a rock ballad inspired by a break-up and came out in July 2015. The song started life in 1989 as an acoustic piece. The studio version was created in 2015. The second break in the song has some bars that are 5/4 and I like this effect with the extra beat. The saxophone part was originally a synthesiser but I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Daniel Wacker who kindly played a real saxophone based on the synthesiser part.

I am grateful to all the people who have helped me and I hope you like it.
