Biography
Amarcord (indie rock)
The band Amarcord was created in 1999 in Le Locle, Switzerland, by Matteo (guitar & vocals), Jérôme (drums), Nadir (guitar & synth) and Robin (bass).
Influenced by the neometal movement in their early days, the members of Amarcord have then developed a style also derived from other musical horizons (hip hop, indie rock, trip hop, …), softened and with much intensity variations, with melancholic lyrics in Italian. So far, they’ve performed numerous times in the western part of their home country and recorded an album, Binario Nord, in 2005 and an EP, Amarcord, in 2009. Another EP, Camera, was released in 2014.
Amarcord, which means „I remember“ in the Italian dialect of Emilia Romagna, also calls up a famous Federico Fellini movie… Amarcord is the fascination for forgotten spaces or instants that suddenly emerge in our memories. Isolated, meaningless and hopeless places which, when filled with Amarcord’s melancholia, want to tell the world that they are in motion. In motion against any form of fascism, against arbitrary confinement, against the prisoners of dawn and hate. Amarcord created its universe in those destitute places, managing to fill them with laughings and tears, with its dreams, with people struggling for freedom. Emotion in all its forms is what the music of Amarcord conveys, as the nostalgia is expressed when we say : „I remember“.
