Biographie
Jaemes, born in Zurich, Switzerland from Italian and Dominican parents, is a bilingual rapper, singer and songwriter.
Heavily inspired by German rap, his music is often characterized by melancholic melodies and lyrics. His good technical ability, the mastery of both Italian and Spanish, and the ease with which he switches from one language to the other distinguish him from many artists.
His first contact with music was at the age of 6 when he discovered Michael Jackson. From that moment on his life changed. At 14 he started his first metal band and by 17 he had written his first rap verses.
In 2005 Jaemes, at the time MC Deux, released his first single as a rapper — “Caro Diario” — and was nominated in the Urban Music category at the Diesel-U-Music Awards 2006 in London, organized by Diesel, Sony Music and Billboard. His participation received press coverage by two major Swiss media outlets: 20min and TeleZüri. In 2007 “Caro Diario EP” was released, which, in addition to the title track, also contained 3 new songs. It received positive reviews by CoolMag.it, Mood Magazine, and RapManiacz.
In 2008 “Caro Diario EP” was among Switzerland’s best 25 demos awarded by M4Music Demotape Clinic.
After a 10-year long hiatus, Il Guerriero, Fuori Di Me, Mi Manchi and La Fine were released in May 2021, February 2022, August and November respectively. La Fine was featured at the 1st Annual FTLADW Filmmaker Showcase. But it was only with Alas in 2023 that Jaemes entirely switched to Latin music.
