Biography
Nu Dag plays acoustic music, searching for depth in the simple and lightness in the complex. The ensemble from three nations (Sweden, Finland, Switzerland) interprets the compositions of Bernese saxophonist Chili Romer and works as a collective since the year 2014. Release of the first album "Absolut", recorded on tape and distributed on vinyl and CD in 2019.
"Everyone has a song that is not a song at all: it is a process of singing, and when you sing, until you where you are." This statement by John Cage (in his 1961 "Lecture on Nothing") continues to inspire us to develop and play the music of Nu Dag. Because it is about the song that each and every one of us five carries within us. Just like everyone who listens to us.
It seems that whoever loves the sound of acoustic instruments - loves it in all its facets from the purest tone to the most complex noise - and gives it space in his musical expression, thereby creates a music that awakens inner images. As if there were a connection between this hierarchy-less abundance of manifold equivalent sounds and the awakening of very individual mental and emotional landscapes. As if one suddenly heard one's own singing in the polyphony of the world.
We invite our audience to rejoice with us in the richness of this world music.
