Biography
The last PICASON album Echando Candela confirms once more that the band is a number one address in the European salsa scene! The most modern style of Cuban music, called timba, is blended with impressively authentic groove, funky hornlines and a powerful extra dose of Afro-Cuban rhythm.
The PICASON story started back in 1985 and since then the band has played over 400 concerts in Europe and Latin America. Over this period, famous guests such as Arturo Sandoval, José Luis Cortés (NG La Banda) Juan Munguia (Irakere) and Orlando "Maraca“ Valle (Irakere) have been invited to write songs or to tour with the orchestra.
In the last few years PICASON have continued to develop an unmistakable sound of their own that is strongly melodic and highly danceable. The remarkable Cuban lead singer Ernesto Manuitt (Giraldo Piloto’s Klimax) has been with the band for more than 18 years now. His powerful but charming voice and his enormous presence on stage – supported by the irresistible groove of the 13-piece band – make every concert into an unforgettable event. You won’t resist to dance!
