Biography
The Dolbys were born in August 2022 in Italian-speaking Switzerland, from an idea by Alfio Sartori and Ivan Frapolli. Shortly after, Dario Jelmini and Stefania Arceri joined them with the intention of creating an innovative sound, blending the sounds of the '90s and 2000s simultaneously. The result is an interesting mix generated by the different musical backgrounds of the four band members, who offer an engaging sound and thus create a connection between past and present.
The band's sound is primarily crossover and alternative rock, with influences from groups such as No Doubt, Foo Fighters, Guano Apes, Korn, Nirvana, Green Day, System of a Down, and many others. The band members are not new to the Ticino music scene: Stefania Arceri (vocals, formerly Bad Toys, Spinning Jamy), Dario Jelmini (guitar, formerly Smash, Sharpened, Sumisura, Fast Food Bananas), Alfio Sartori (bass and vocals, Gnu Generation, formerly Smash, Matrikamantra, Wild Goes Smashed), and Ivan Frapolli (drums, formerly Smash, Sharpened, Wild Goes Smashed, Fast Food Bananas) have accumulated considerable experience, both in the studio and during live concerts.
On August 26, 2023, the band released their debut production, the single titled "Desiderio," accompanied by some live dates in the fall of the same year. On February 18, 2024, their second single "You're Gonna Be Mine" and the music video were released. The band's concerts have a strong sonic impact: Stefania's powerful voice and the excellent synergy among the band's musicians manage to engage the audience, enriching the experience with a healthy dose of self-irony!
