Biography
D-FECT are among the local heros of the Metal-Scene in Swiss canton of "Schwyz". The band was founded in the bitter winter of the year 1994. O.T. and Waedi playing a mean guitar, Schletzi at the bass and Parisi at the drums headed off without vocals and without a band name. All musicians with lots of experience in other bands.
A couple of months later, O.T. and Wädi met Raubi by accident in a smoky bar. Raubi had given up his vocal career after a couple of other music projects, but he got conviced to join a jam session. And the spark went off. Things got moving, a band name was found and a year later a first demo tape with four songs has been released.
During the years and through a raising numbers of concerts, D-FECT's own sound emerged. D-FECT resisted to adopt a single style. The band members are much too diverse. The sound is hard to grasp, sometimes there is gothic-rock, then the rudest tex-mex-guitar-riffs, followed by melodic accoustic parts. And just as chameleonic are the texts. An example is the legendary poem "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe, which has been set to music by D-FECT, or H. P. Lovecraft's dark fantasies in "Cthulhus Awake". The song "The Crow" has been dedicated to the deceased actor Brandon Lee, In "Flatline" the band deals with the hope for an afterlife. You'll meet old gods ("Riding the Dragon") and the daemons in your own mind ("Abyss in the Mind").
After a couple of years, Parisi decided to quit the band. Luckily, talented drummer Tschi has been found quickly. Already in the tender age of eleven, he had collected some experiences at concerts and in the studio with the band "headless". Unfortunately the time he could spend on D-FECT has been limited form the start.
In Autumn 2002 the song material was becoming really large. So the band decided to record a CD. They retreated into the ZündStoffStudio Goldau Goldau and in February 2003, the first CD "Lilith lo vult"" has been launched during a great party. Shortly afterwards, Tschi moved to Basel and left the band.
But regarding drummers, D-FECT has proved to have the right touch. After an intense seek all over Switzerland, Petsch, a drum monster, has been found right in front of the door. Petsch is made out of the perfect D-FECT-Wood. After a short period of time, he played the songs as if he had never done anything else.
Now new songs are being written and you may be curious about the concert season 2006, when D-FECT will shake the clubs again...
