Die Beruhigungsbombe
is making short songs for long thoughts this year.
In January, “Herzrhythmus” will be released, the first single from the upcoming album KARMAZEUTIKA. The album consists of 28 tracks, each no longer than one minute – not a second too much, not an extra chord more than necessary.
The concept:
Each song is based on a single four-note chord. Using the notes C, D, E, F, G, A and H, Major7, Dominant7, Minor Major7 and Minor7 chords were created. Each chord became exactly one song.
Herzrhythmus, for example, lives its entire life on one single Em7. Faithful, monogamous, uncompromising.
The short length of the songs is no coincidence: inspired by the 1990s, when punk and hardcore bands proved that you can say everything in under a minute. Short songs for short people, tapes with 100 songs. KARMAZEUTIKA exists somewhere between musical reduction, conceptual art, and the desire not to beat around the bush for too long.
Die Beruhigungsbombe believes:
Sometimes one chord is enough.
Sometimes one minute is enough.
And sometimes music works best in small doses.
