Established in Lugano, Ticino (Italian-speaking region of Switzerland) in 1993, Altrisuoni (originally Altri Suoni, meaning ‘other sounds’) is a Swiss label dedicated to jazz, in a broad sense, inflecting projects involving confirmed as well as upcoming Swiss artists, often in collaboration with European and international musicians, the goal being to turn the spotlight on the active and prolific musical scene of Switzerland and neighbouring countries – and not only. In fact, alongside emerging Swiss talents such as Martin Bürgi, Fabian Mueller, Alexis Gfeller, Stefano Saccon, Sandro Schneebeli, Kaspar Ewald, Zeno Gabaglio et al., the 350+ catalogue includes the works of international artists such as Mike Westbrook, Lewis Porter, Simon Spang-Hanssen, Jean-Christophe Cholet, Franck Tortiller, John Aram, Bertrand Lajudie, Heiri Känzig, and Gilles Torrent; and featured guest names such as Lee Konitz, Flavio Boltro, Dave Liebman, Tim Garland, Danny Gottlieb, Dave Samuels, Enrico Rava; and even a rare and exclusive recording by the late Chet Baker (‘Silent Nights’).
Altrisuoni has always kept an ear to the ground to help budding modern jazz, avantgarde and contemporary composers emerge and be exposed to the wider audience, a modus operandi that has enabled the independent Swiss label to claim a well-earned spot in the sun among prestigious European labels.
Today, Altrisuoni is a division of PBR Record Ltd., a publishing and distribution company located near Montreux, Switzerland, with over 25 years of experience in the field. PBR is the exclusive distributor in Switzerland of, among others, the prestigious Danish jazz label Storyville and the French publisher Frémeaux.
Altrisuoni: a Noble sound in Europe.
