Biography
Summer 2001.
Mathilda is her name for the three friends sharing her. Mathilda is a
“Volkswagen Bus Type II Transporter“. In Italy’s torrid sun Mathilda’s
soul conks out. The engine explodes, screws, nuts and engine fragments
are hurled through the transporter’s cargo cell, bringing the two illegal
czech hitchhikers into life danger. All in all a good reason for driver
and co-driver to call their band “Type II Overkill”.
They leave the bus in San Remo (I) and report it as stolen to be able
to leave the number plate there. One day far in the future, so the plan,
Mathilda shall be picked up and brought home again.
At this point of time, the band consists of the two guitar players and
singers Olivier Mueller and Reto Wegmann, which in a dangerously
badly isolated barn constantly try to torture any sounds out of their
borrowed quitars. It is a hard time for the two of them, after all,
for the rock career they aim at they still lack bass, drums and
musical knowledge.
Finding a drummer turns out to be easier than they thought,
however, Dani Ott obviously has the significant drawback that he
never ever practised with the band. Although he was half a year
t2o’s official drummer, he did not play with them for a single time.
Introducing Kevin Feierabend, this problem is solved. He brings
along drums and the corresponding skills. Short after this
Sevi Brunner on the bass joins, they change the band room and
slowly Olivier and Reto start to develop some basic skills on their
instruments. For the first time in their history, the result can
be called ‘music’.
Proceeding to their first (in the meantime legendary) concert
in front of an audience, Kevin the drummer suffers from an outage.
Briefly, meaning one week in advance, drum legend Stefan Kuhn
luckily commits to helping with the career ignition and so the four
of them, together with roadie Markus Weiss, are on their way to
Aarwangen, where this national holiday party takes place.
The band’s performance there celebrates an overwhelming
success and they turn that restrained party into a tempel of
Rock ‘n Roll, where sweat, beer, testosterone and guitars rule.
Shortly after, Kevin takes up an other assignment and is
replaced by Stefan.
The band starts to organise its practises more frequently and
ambitiously and it starts as well to write own songs. Bass player
Sevi announces his demission and is replaced by Felix "The Bass".
Felix integrates himself astonishingly quickly and, additionally,
brings in quite a dose of spiritual Rock ‘n Roll.
They achieve their ultimate breakthrough on the 22th april 2005
in the Kulturbahnhof Affoltern (KuBaA), where the four of them
set the location fully on fire. Dancing punks together with
underwear-throwing groupies and clapping middle aged gents
and ladies is an uncommon combination and shows that the
band has musically grown and is finally able to succeed
over all borders of style.
t2o rocks. t2o pleases.
