White Dune is a band of 11 independent groove funk performers from Fribourg (CH), inspired by the music of artists such as Maceo Parker, Parcels and Gil Scott Heron.
Created in 2018 following a meeting between Catherine Demierre and Arnaud Frossard, the project was to bring together people who love groove and create therapeutic music that would inspire militant strength and celebration. Starting out with just four members: drums, bass, guitar and vocals, over the years White Dune has grown to include a brass section, two backing singers and a pianist. The band has finally found its ever-changing shape as a big, crazy family!
Together, they spent five years fine-tuning their music and playing at various venues and festivals, including Festicheyres, the Gibloux Festival and Rock'Oz Arènes. They then released their debut album, Children, in May 2023: a journey to share their struggles and intimacies, filled with pleasure and revolt. It's all shared on stage in a festive, upbeat way.
