Andra Kouyaté is preparing a new album for autumn 2014 with his charismatic and undeniable talented group with a groovy afrofunk touch. This group breath funk retains its African touch through complex rhythms and the whole spirit and warm energy of Mandingo tradition.
“I am always searching and listening and trying to understand more music. If I only played traditional music in the same way, it would simply be too limiting for me. I want to expand. It’s what I was meant to do.”
Biographie
Andra Kouyaté has invented, designed and built a new instrument; the bass n’goni, sort of an African contrabass. This invention has permitted him to develop a new way of playing, quite different from the more usual traditional ngoni.
