Anissa Damali is a Swiss singer, songwriter and performer with an international background shaped by musical experiences across Europe and several years spent living and working in Brazil.
Now she is opening an exciting new chapter in her career.
With her latest song “Doggy Show”, Anissa brings together Neo-Soul, Jazz and Contemporary R&B in a warm, modern and distinctive sound.
For Anissa, “Back to the Roots” does not simply mean looking back at the past. It is about bringing together the musical influences, cultures and experiences that have shaped her life and transforming them into something fresh and contemporary.
The result reveals an artist who is more personal, more mature and, at the same time, firmly connected to the present.
Between Europe and Brazil
Anissa’s connection to Brazil has played a particularly important role in her artistic development.
She lived and worked in the country for several years and, through collaborations with Brazilian artists, developed a personal and lasting relationship with Brazilian culture.
Her musical projects have also reached international audiences through platforms including SWI swissinfo and other media channels. Over the years, she has been booked for numerous intercultural corporate events, including activities connected with the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Rio de Janeiro.
Brazil 2012
Anissa launched her first album in the Amazon region together with renowned drummer Magrus Borges, among others, followed by a tour in Switzerland.
Brazil 2019
Her second album was independently produced across two continents, Brazil and Switzerland, and featured established musicians including bassist Sergio Brandao, known for his work with Tania Maria, as well as Brazilian artist Nico Rezende, who contributed a song to the album.
The project was recorded at the well-known Fibras Recording Studio, which has also hosted artists including Anitta and numerous Latin Grammy-winning musicians.
“Doggy Show” was mastered by two-time Grammy winner Fernando Delgado, who is also the drummer on Anissa’s current project.
All these experiences have contributed to an artistic language that cannot be reduced to one geographical origin or a single genre:
European in perspective, international in ambition, and shaped by an authentically developed connection to Brazil.
A New Beginning
With “Doggy Show”, Anissa Damali begins a new artistic phase.
The single brings together Neo-Soul, Contemporary R&B and Jazz with influences Anissa has absorbed throughout the different stages of her musical career.
Her songs have been always developed with the live stage in mind: dynamic, musically distinctive and driven by enough energy and personality to connect directly with new audiences.
