Anteo, the stage name of Antonio Passaseo, was born in 1964 in Ruffano, in the heart of Salento. At 17 he moved to Switzerland to work for the railways, carrying with him a deep passion for music. In the late 1980s he discovered singing and soon after songwriting, beginning an artistic journey that would accompany him throughout his life.
THE BEGINNINGS AND EARLY SUCCESS (1990s)
In the early 1990s, Anteo composed songs for several emerging artists, standing out for his melodic sensitivity. His first major recognition came in 1996 with “Dio delle Tribù”, written for the singer Nora, who won the final of the Musica e Vita festival at the Volkshaus in Zurich, with Michele Zarrillo as guest of honor.
This success led to the production of the maxi‑single “La mia vita” with Phonoplay International and to a Swiss tour organized by Magic Music. In this project, Anteo also collaborated on the artistic production with musician Sonni Fazio.
In 1998, two songs written by Fazio and Anteo won first and second place at the Volkshaus Zurich, performed by Angelica and Jenni.
THE MEETING WITH SABINA DI BUONO
In 1999, Anteo began collaborating with singer Sabina Di Buono, already well‑known in Switzerland with two albums released. A strong artistic bond developed between them: Anteo composed new songs for her, handled the artistic production, and became her personal manager, accompanying her on tour and in all musical activities.
THE GERMAN PARALYMPICS ANTHEM (2002)
In 2000, Sabina and Anteo took part in the selection for the artist who would perform the German National Anthem for the 2002 Winter Paralympics. Sabina presented “Light Your Star”, an original composition by Anteo, and won the selection.
In 2001, during the Paralympics‑Night in Düsseldorf, the song was officially announced as the German Paralympic National Anthem, in the presence of Chancellor Rudolf Schröder. From 2001 to 2003, Sabina – accompanied by Anteo – embarked on an extensive tour across Germany.
DISCOGRAPHIC AND TELEVISION COLLABORATIONS
In 2003, Anteo introduced Sabina to the record label B&G of Behgjet Pacolli in Lugano. She was selected for a new production, for which Anteo composed several songs. Despite the closure of the Lugano office, part of the project continued, including a song submitted for the Sanremo 2005 selections.
In 2004, thanks to a recommendation from Massimo Ranieri, Sabina took part in the RAI program “I Raccomandati d’Italia”, winning one episode and then the grand final, watched by around 8 million viewers.
In 2007, Anteo and Sabina were signed by Setticlavio Produzioni ed Edizioni in Milan, releasing a new single that received excellent public response.
RECENT YEARS
From 2007 onward, Anteo devoted himself to family life, concerts, and touring, while continuing to compose and support artistic projects. His dream remains to bring Sabina to success with one of his major compositions.
CONCLUSION
Anteo’s music is born from the heart and speaks directly to the heart. Every song is an emotion transformed into melody.
