AVEM presents a versatile and genre-bending take on Electronica.
Boris‘ compositions display a wide sonic field; from driven Synthesizer patches, field recordings and acoustic experimentation, all the way to ethereal vocal work. AVEM‘s output manifests in producing, playing live shows and DJ sets, but also realising visual aspects in still and motion.
Starting in 2017 with Nuages EP [HMLEP001] on Vienna-based imprint Heimlich Musik, the artist would go on to release eight more EPs and numerous singles in the following years, featuring collaborations and remixes with Ninze, O/Y, Mira & Chris Schwarzwalder and his LOKD label-mates Dandara and Arutani, among many others.
AVEM‘s aesthetic can be read as a fusion of diverse influences: IDM, House and Techno evidently come to mind, but also Kraut Rock and Hip-Hop / Rap are named as relevant sources of inspiration. 2023 had AVEM releasing his first studio album.
A logical choice for the LP was Basel-based home label and artist family LOKD. The album can be understood as a personal brainchild through and through, from producing and mixing all the way to visual/graphical aspects of the physical record. «Dream State» saw the light of day on digital and vinyl on September 1st 2023.
