A BANG AND A WHIMPER formed in 2010. Two are trained musicians, two with professional connection to the theater. Since the beginning they search for a sound of their own and, in spite of the classical rock setting, explore the possibilities of indie and alternative songs. The proximity of the band members to the art world leads sometimes to unconventional time signatures, to unusual guitar tunings and not least to the fact that the band somethimes plays in some rather atypical places. In the years of their existence they were heard in classical clubs (from La Catrina to the Coq'd'or to the Kramladen in Vienna) and at Openairs (from the Werdinsel via Bern and Biel to Geneva), on theatrical stages (Neumarkt, Winkelwiese, Fabriktheater, Schlachthaus Bern) or as part of art events (Kunsthaus Aussersihl, Rote Fabrik or as a part of a dance performance at "Zürich dances").
The sound has become a little quieter over the years, more differentiated. The desire for elaborated songs and sounds is unbroken, this controlled moment just before breaking lose is what they search again and again, whereby it is clear: excursions into noise are more than wellcome from time to time.
