Biographie
Nurtured with a lot of different musical styles (jazz, rock, funk, metal, etc.), Berserk for tea time is a young band which plays an intense, powerful and original music. In 2003, two friends - a drummer and a guitarist - meet and decide to start a band. A bassist and a singer come and join them afterwards. After a change of bassist (2004), the band continues its evolution, getting from basic hardcore to always more complicated structures. Sometimes melancholic, sometimes violent, sometimes aerial, Bftt’s music wants to tell a story, to create its own atmosphere, its own identity. Since then Bftt is turning to a resolutely more colourful and in depth style mixing together wild rhythms and more exciting riffs accentuated by some more aerial lines, all this in a full-on rock’n’roll spirit. While keeping to their own Bftt-in-your-face style, influences like Refused, Dillinger Escape Plan or Isis can come to mind. The energy and authenticity that come out during their stage acts will allow them to play alongside bands such as Eminence (Bra), Houston Swing Engine (Ch), Cortez (Ch), The Anti Doctrine (De), Bumblefoot (Usa) and much more. Fresh and ambitious, the young group has an iron will to have their projects come through. Berserk for tea time eventually decides to record the first album, Ink and paper…« Ink and Paper » is the very first album of the band Berserk for Tea Time. After a few live performances throughout Switzerland and a three tracks demo CD, the band decided to start recording in July 2006 at the studio La Fonderie in Fribourg. The recording lasted three weeks which were quite intense and exhausting because the musicians have chosen to record all together (except for the vocals that have been added afterwards). The idea was, by doing so, to use the energy of simultaneousness to render, on CD, the feeling of the band playing life music. It was also an opportunity to test other sounds and shades. As a co-producer and talented musician, the sound engineer Sacha Ruffieux brought his experience and his motivation to this album and has achieved to give a new kind of power to the Bftt's metal. The shrilling voice is interwoven in this multitude of nutty rhythmical patterns and embraces a radically different dimension in the quiet, aerial and melancholic parts. It is through its meaningful and poetic lyrics, that the music of Bftt takes all its shape. The sound recording, the mix and the mastering were Sasha's business. “Ink and Paper” reveals itself already as an album with a remarkable cohesion, reflecting wonderfully well the universe of Berserk for tea time, a strange blend of rock'n'roll, violence and melancholy in a smoky and a little glaucous atmosphere. Baptiste Cochard, the visual alchemist of the band, is responsible for all that has to do with the visual aspect, like for instance the stickers, the T-shirts and the amazing website, and he does manage to recreate the world of Bftt, and he therefore really part of the adventure. The band is now working with the Saïko Records label, which is based in Fribourg. The label assumes the distribution of the album for the whole Switzerland. Bftt also collaborates with the Get a Life Records label for some exchange with others countries. A brand news protagonist has joined the band, Christoph Noth, who is the official manager and who is responsible for the booking. The future of the band looks exciting and Berserk for tea time is definitely a band to be kept in mind...
