CALIGUZ, formerly known as Lica De Guzman, is a Swiss artist of Philippine descent, born in 1997 in Geneva. At the age of 4, she began singing and dancing, showcasing an early talent that led her to perform on stage. Her career took a decisive turn in 2004 when she was selected as one of the "Caribanakids" at the Caribana Festival. This experience opened the doors to the music industry for her, and she became a backing vocalist for the Christmas CD of Swiss singer Sonia Grimm.
In 2005, she took singing lessons and performed multiple times on the show Les Coups de Coeur by Alain Morisod, where she was introduced as the "little Philippine pearl" in front of the former president of the Swiss Confederation. At the age of 6, Lica joined the Little Dreams Foundation, where she would train for about ten years as a singer. Thanks to this experience, she developed her talent by working with renowned artists such as Lara Fabian and Phil Collins. The foundation also allowed her to participate in various concerts, including the Montreux Jazz Festival, and she sang as a backing vocalist for celebrities like Laura Pausini, Bryan Adams, and Youssou N'Dour.
In 2011, Lica was invited to the Geneva Conference on Multiculturalism, where she was named Ambassador of Peace. This award sparked in her the desire to combine her passion with social causes, particularly for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan, for whom she proposed to organize a concert dedicated to the Philippine community in Geneva to raise funds for the rehabilitation of affected areas.
In 2016, she participated in The Voice France, joining Florent Pagny's team until the knockout stage, where she faced Slimane, the overall winner of that season. She then decided to take a break from her career to focus on songwriting and her studies.
In 2021, Lica De Guzman adopted the stage name CALIGUZ and explored the world of hip-hop/RnB. She collaborated with local artists such as Slimka while working on her own musical identity.
In May 2024, she released her first EP titled Calipso, featuring RnB/Soul tracks that highlight her vocal mastery, authenticity, and new artistic direction.
