About the Band:
Captain Ludd was founded in Zurich in 2008 by musicians from the USA, Sweden, England and Switzerland. The band began as an alt-country/Americana project that promoted the use of handcrafted instruments, back-to-basics living, making soup, and the creation of independent art and music. After recording "Diesel Fried Chicken," a 17-song demo, Captain Ludd quickly evolved into string band that merged its country and rock influences with its own uniquely orchestral blend of minimalism, jazz and psychedelia.
About the Album:
“What Do I Do With These Blues?” was recorded by Phil Hero, live, in a 2 day recording session in a barn in the Swiss countryside. The songs on this CD capture the feeling of being in a country place in the autumn with good friends, good food, and good mojo.
What does Captain Ludd Sound like?:
We don’t really like comparing ourselves to other bands. But people who like Calexico, Iron & Wine, Steve Earle, Wilco or Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band. We love musicians as diverse as Sonic Youth, Kurt Weil, John Lee Hooker, Bobby Darin, Patti Smith and Iron Maiden so maybe you’ll hear their influence too. Or maybe you won’t.
