Born between the lake and the mountains of Ticino, Cedric Blaser grew up surrounded
by sounds that soon became his language. After his first years studying the violin, he
found in the guitar a more natural and personal space, studying with Vladimiro Carcano
and later with Gabriele Cavadini at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana.
He then turned to jazz at EJMA Lausanne with Julien Feltin, but it was outside any
defined genre that he truly found his voice. Deeply drawn to traditional music from
around the world, he continually integrates new sounds and influences into his musical
universe, allowing them to shape and expand his expression.
Over the years, he has created and collaborated with projects such as Saraka, Eïla, Jacob
Hannes, Balaclava, and Layena, and has composed music for theatre, dance, and circus
(La Horde dans les pavés, Wunderplunder, L’incatenato, Diptik, Mmitari).
In 2022, he composed the original soundtrack for L’Amour du Monde by Jenna Hasse
(Special Mention at the 2023 Berlinale).
In his solo work, Cedric creates intimate, dreamlike soundscapes, where guitar,
synthesizers, and voice intertwine through looping in a fluid, suspended and often
hypnotic texture.
