Chimera Paul is a four-member indie-folk band from Basel, founded in 2023. Joel and Piera met through mutual friends and started making music together. When they discovered they harmonized well, the idea of forming a band was born. Joel’s brother, Cédric, quickly joined the team, and the three of them went on a 10-day holiday together, during which they played a lot of music and grew closer as friends. After one of their first performances, they struck up a conversation with their future drummer Vik, who at the time was Cédric's work colleague. They arranged a joint rehearsal, and it became immediately clear that the four of them worked incredibly well together. Vik quickly became an indispensable part of the band, and the four decided to launch the project Chimera Paul.
The band’s debut performance took place in the spring of 2023 at the nearly sold-out Badhüsli in Basel. After a successful first year, during which they were invited to perform on various stages, such as JKF Basel, the Träffpunktfestival in Biberist, and a living room concert series in Winterthur, they began working with a booking agency. With the agency’s help, Cédric, the band’s bassist, developed a strategic plan to further professionalize and advance the project. This included their first small Switzerland-wide festival tour, which the band played in the spring and summer of 2024. In addition to their performances, the band spent time in the studio working on their debut EP, Sonder. The debut EP was released on October 25, 2024, and celebrated with a release party at the Sudhaus in Basel, both digitally and on vinyl. A second small Switzerland tour is planned for spring 2025.
