The Chrystal alphorn trio from Horgen, founded in 2004, became the alphorn group in 2007 and is now one of Switzerland's most melodious ambassadors of alphorn music. The members – who were once trained in trumpet, euphonium, trombone, tuba, and clarinet in the Horgen Cadet Band – now pursue alphorn playing with great enthusiasm and joy as a passionate hobby. They regularly showcase their skills at a wide variety of events: family celebrations, weddings, birthdays, corporate events, sports and music events – wherever alphorn sounds can spread cheer.
With their high musical quality, the Chrystal alphorn group and small ensembles have also proven themselves at yodeling festivals and competitions: the group achieved Class 1 status on their very first appearance at a yodeling festival in St. Moritz in 2007 and have been awarded this rating at all yodeling festivals since then.
The Chrystal alphorn group regularly provides the musical backdrop for cultural highlights, such as the christening of the winning bull “Zeppelin” at the 2024 cantonal wrestling festival in Horgen – a charming combination of tradition, customs, and music.
The Chrystal alphorn group stands for living tradition, musical precision, and genuine passion. From their shared roots in the Horgen cadet band, a well-rehearsed ensemble has grown over the years that carries on the fascination of the alphorn with heart and soul and skill—traditionally rooted, yet always open to new musical paths.
