Cinzia Catania, half Swiss - half Sicilian, is an accomplished singer, composer, lyricist & educator. Her style is particular, visionary & unique, as she is fearlessly blending genres to express herself through music.
She started her musical path with studies in the Netherlands (Groningen), in Austria (Graz) and in Switzerland (Lucerne) and achieved two Master degrees, one in Jazz Singing and one in Composition. The voices that influenced her early musical path were Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington and Diana Ross. Her love for Big Band was shaped by Charles Mingus and Maria Schneider. In that area she earned quite some recognition and also won some prices. (1st price & audience award Jazz Comp Graz 2017, Generations Switzerland 2018). Her music was played by the Swiss Jazz Orchestra among other Big Bands and will be played by the national Big Band of Gran Canaria this Spring in May 2023.
She is always seeking for new ways to write music. Currently she is working with the young and promising producer Daniel Somaroo aka PHSE SHFT.
Her biggest influences are Björk, Imogen Heap, Solange, Radiohead, Cibelle, Frank Ocean, Beatles, Arca, Lianne La Havas, Kimbra, Kate Bush, & Joni Mitchell.
