Musical style:
Colibri gather from a wide variety of sources (such as Rembetiko,
Irish folk, Electro, and Americana) and simmer them down into a driving, surprising sound with a wild heartbeat, lots of string instruments, and a dash of Bätzi for the soul.
The songs sparkle with defiant joie de vivre in a torn world, telling stories that take place away from the big screen, on the margins of society, about enticing abysses, fearless flights of fancy, unconditional friendship, and amore e utopia. From reduced contemplation to exuberant danceability. Sung in Bernese German and other languages.
Band history:
From 2001 to 2010, Colibri were the musical accompaniment to storyteller Timmermahn as Los Hobos.
Since 2010, they have mostly been performing as a quartetwith collaborations on stage with Michael Fehr, Mich Gerber, Nadja Stoller, and Dabu Fantastic, among others.
Airplay: “Mortality (is Our Drug),” “Peccatore Salvatore,” “Volcan,” “Irgendwie nid,” “99 Prozänt,” “Amore e Utopia,” “On and on” (Song of the Day, SRF3), among others.
