The Swiss oldschool death metal band Dark Colony releases their first album on Pro Stata Records, Warszawa, Polska (PSR0015). They include Emerald guitarist Julius Menth and former members of Shroudshifter, Blues Horror Brigade, Slaves and Anarchus.
"...according to a legend, disaster crawled out of the wreckage of an alien spaceship that had crashlanded on earth. In a drummer's practice room, over time the course of fate gained a final form through new music."
Dark Colony, that sounds like a dark crew on a distant planet. Or are they extraterrestrials who want to settle on our earth and enslave us, who destroy all that is beautiful and familiar? The signs of the times say a lot about it. It is clear to all of us that the world is once again facing one of its greatest challenges. Dark Colony accompanies the dark scenario with an energetic soundtrack.
Like almost every band Dark Colony was not spared from personnel changes, again and again discarded band names and smaller internal differences. The fact that the project nevertheless made it is due to the perseverance of the two main heads Manfred Schwaller on drums and songwriter Silvio Riedo: they wanted a sound that, according to their own statements, should not only be hard, but also inhuman and evil. With their Death Metal it is their declared goal to create extreme music that enlightens people, but is still a lot of fun.
Together with Silvio Riedo's former band mate, the ex - Slaves guitarist Dave Schneider, and the bass player Mathias Burri, two likeminded people got on board right from the start. Together they wrote their first songs and arrangements. At the end of 2017 the first demo recordings soon took place. There were a few failures with the voice, then the wish for a huge organ finally
came true in spring 2018: Damnation Call and ex- Anarchus vocalist Phil Veluz joined as the third mastermind. Dave Schneider left the group after disagreements and was replaced in early 2019 by Emerald and Six Pack Lead Guitar talent Julius Menth.
At the same time the album production took its constant course, the emphasis being on authenticity and precision. The project's linchpin was the Caliber Club 2.0 studio by Lee and André Schornoz. Here they recorded guitars, experimented with ideas, exchanged inputs and worked together on sounds and arrangements for the record. Nevertheless, almost all the recordings of these twelve songs were made at home in the DC recording studios of the band members.
The finished tracks of the Dark Colony debut album were mixed and mastered by Metal legend and master V.O. Pulver at the end of May 2019 in his Little Creek studio.
