DJ $B (DJ SB) is a 20-year-old vinyl selector, maker, and award-winning hobby audio engineer from Zurich and Aargau. His sound is deeply rooted in 90s boom-bap, as well as soulful underground hip-hop and R&B.
With a focus on technical craftsmanship and an excellent track selection, $B has already firmly established himself in the Swiss scene. His repertoire ranges from curated vinyl nights at locations like Kasheme or ChaChaCha to high-energy sets for the LMNZH Jam or the BnB Cypher Open Mic. His experience spans festival stages, regional cyphers, and live concert support.
His understanding of "technical craftsmanship" goes far beyond the turntables: In 2026, DJ $B proved that urban music culture and academic research belong together. For the development and construction of his own analog "DIY Lo-Fi Sampler," he was awarded the top grade of "Outstanding" (Gold) at the 60th National Contest of Swiss Youth in Science (SJf). Through this project, he secured an international special prize and will officially represent Switzerland at the renowned MOSTRATEC science fair 2026 in Brazil.
Whether on the sidelines at basketball games in Zofingen, in the lounges of Zurich, or with a soldering iron in the workshop – his philosophy remains the same: complete focus on the craft and the culture.
