It‘s completely normal for me to feel at home anywhere. I love it and I wouldn‘t change a single thing about how I grew up, but moving around so much sometimes makes it harder to
figure out who you really are. I got into music and songwriting firstly because it‘s super fun, but mostly because you can do it from anywhere.
I was born in Budapest, Hungary but did a lot of moving back and forth between the U.S. (first Virginia, Arizona, then Texas) and Europe. Music is a huge part of Hungarian culture and I always had some musical influence growing up either through choir or theatre or just making up silly songs with my family.
When I was 15, I moved to Switzerland and finished up high school at the Zurich International School. It was actually my calculus teacher there who got me into songwriting. He would give me chord progressions and I would write a melody and lyrics. After a while, I was completely hooked. I realised what a theraputic effect songwriting had and suddenly break-ups, teenage drama
and being a ‘third-culture kid, just became fuel for new songs. It was great!
When school ended I went to the UK to study Psychology and Economics at university. Back then I was
mostly just writing for myself and singing for my friends, posting a few things online - but never anything
serious. As much as I loved music and singing, I never thought I was gung-ho enough to consider it as something more than a hobby. After uni, I really had no clue what direction to go into - there are so many things that excite me to my core that I felt overwhelmed by the choices. So I took a year out to travel and live in Australia to figure it all out. While I was there, I ended up meeting a lot of musicians and it somehow clicked that regardless of ‘what I will be when I grow up' I definitely want to do more with music.
So, I came back to Zurich, got a marketing job to pay the bills and got in touch with a studio in the city (www.sonarsound.ch). I met Philipp Erdin there, a sound engineer who essentially became my music industry mentor. With his incredible help and skill, we put together and recorded 8 of my tracks. I‘m now working with a band and doing gigs around Zurich and looking to move into music full time.
