Draaht is a Techno duo that creates their music live from scratch, delivering unique, minimal, and high-energy performances at every show.
Draaht's minimal, rhythmic sound propels forward at a pace above 130 BPM, leveraging instant composition techniques to craft each concert as a unique experience. This approach not only highlights their technical prowess but also their ability to adapt and innovate in real-time, creating a singular event at every show that reflects the dynamic interplay between the duo and their audience.
Their collaboration was sparked when Boris Kraft and Gabriel Seher crossed paths at the world-renowned Elysia Club in Basel during a workshop with Techno legend Sebastian Mullaert, laying the foundation for a musical journey that would become the modus operandi of this Swiss duo.
Gabriel Seher's fascination with electronic sounds began at age 10 when he serendipitously encountered Kraftwerk's "Computerwelt." This marked the beginning of a transformative musical odyssey, leading him to acquire his first synthesiser and drum machine in 1991. From 1995 to 2000, Gabriel immersed himself in the vibrant world of raves and live acid sets across Germany, France and New England, while simultaneously diving deep into the technological side of electronic music. With a dedication to live improvisation as a form of meditation and balance, he returned to the roots in 2020, embracing the pure essence of spontaneous musical creation. Notably, Gabriel adheres to the concept of always improvising shows live and subsequently crafting tracks from recordings, embodying a unique artistic philosophy.
Boris Kraft embarked on his musical journey at age 13, starting with the electric bass and songwriting. Adopting the piano as his main instrument, he studied electric bass in Los Angeles, USA, jazz piano in Edinburgh, Scotland, and later in Basel, Switzerland. Until his early 30s, Boris performed live with various rock, soul, and jazz formations. His musical pursuits took a back seat when his software business thrived, resulting in a successful exit in 2017. This pivotal moment allowed him to refocus on music, leading him to explore modular synthesis and delve into sound design and live improvisation under the alias "Fables of Silence."
Together, Boris Kraft and Gabriel Seher form Draaht, architects of sound who craft a sonic temple where the dance-floor transforms into a sacred space for the transcendence of the everyday. Their unique approach to live improvisation, technology, and sound design defines Draaht's creative ethos, showcasing a synthesis of diverse musical backgrounds and a shared commitment to pushing the boundaries of electronic music.
Draaht has been signed by French techno-label Logistic Records. Their first EP “2303 And Counting” will be released on Vinyl and digital on June 6, 2025 and is available for pre-order on Bandcamp immediately.
