In 2022, Pit (guitar – lead vocals), Eric (bass), Lionel (guitar), and Séb (guitar), longtime friends, wanted to give new impetus to their project, Big Wave, a rock band founded in the late 2000s. With the drummer position vacant, they welcomed Julien, with whom they had already collaborated on other projects (Boss Hogg, Pitchers), who took over the drums freehand. The five friends set about rediscovering the band's repertoire, keeping an eye out for any hits. A few successful shows later, the band branched out into new compositions. They entered the studio in the fall of 2024 to record their first 4-track EP, "Horizonville." DRIVE was born during the mixing phase in early 2025; a new entity, the beginnings of new adventures.
Marked by music from the 60s to the 90s, DRIVE exudes pure, imperfectly refined rock that urges you to take the wheel at full speed, the speakers blasting out a saturated sound. Guitar and big drum aficionados will not fail to notice an obvious connection with Seattle grunge, to which the group adds a few bluesy touches, sometimes borrowing meanders specific to progressive rock. In the studio and in concert, the group only uses its amps, its drums and Pit's gravelly voice to distill its compositions, without autopilot or onboard technology. Playing with the white lines, DRIVE nevertheless respects the codes of classic rock, pushing back along the way the barriers deemed too oppressive...
