The common fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) belongs to the family of umbellifers (Apiaceae), just like anise, caraway, and lovage. It can be found throughout the Mediterranean region in two subspecies: pepper or donkey fennel (Foeniculum vulgare ssp. piperitum) and garden fennel (F. vulgare ssp. vulgare). Fennel is a multifaceted vegetable—not everyone likes it, but those who come to appreciate it wouldn't want to miss it anymore.
Fenchel plays rock music. The lyrics are sung in Swiss German—after all, no one can speak English properly anyway—sometimes profound, angry, confused, or ironic, always with a sense of humor and a wink.
Their music style is raw and experimental, with many layers and a hefty dose of atmosphere. The combination of hard guitar riffs and spacey tape echo sounds gives Fenchel its unique character.
