Film 2 is Jonas Albrecht, Elias Bieri and Elischa Heller. For nearly a decade they have been playing their way through the Swiss underground, from dark cellars to niche festivals, from 20-minute sets to 4-hour performances – somewhere between noise rock, kraut and experiment.
Their music comes hurtling in with sound constructions that overwhelm and confuse and sweep you along and hit you square in the face. Energetic and grinding, and yet there are moments within it that touch you and make you stop. The instruments rear up, scraping what feels like a cloud of dust made of sounds into your face, and then suddenly you find yourself on the outside, the guitar becomes almost physical, everything melts and grinds.
At Film 2, text becomes material. Words abstract themselves in the process of repetition until they dissolve into pure sound, only to then concretise back into thoughts. Every sound, every word is turned and twisted, stretched and kneaded, the rhythm drives the whole thing forward and pulls everything else along with it.
And so they make us tremble and think. Always shifting, but always moving forward.
