Biography
Jaz de Milvun discovered a passion for Music which he found mysteriously mesmerizing already as a young child while listening to his father vinyl collection including the Beegees or Kate Bush to name but a very few. At 16 y.o. he was already mixing Pop and Rock Music several small venues in Lausanne, Switzerland. In 1992, he met with electronic Music, Trance, Gabber, Techno, Goa Trance and raves and was overwhelmed. Just a few weeks later, he abandonned his CDs and bought 2 SL-1210 Mk2 which will accompany him for nearly 20 years. Having moved to London in 2007 where he deepened his love of breaks, trip hop, DnB and Electronica as he started mixing in Cafés in Camden Town area and private parties all over the city. In 2011, he followed a work opportunity to Germany and had to leave his burgeoning DJ career behind, along with everything but his loyal Sennheiser headphones which he still uses today. He never thought he would ever DJ again, yet after reconnecting with the nightlife as a guest and dancer in Berlin in 2016, something was tickling. Early 2019, the gap is digitally closed and he is litteraly back on track with a new array of tunes incorporating years of Musical culture and affinities in nearly all existing styles. He never studied harmonies or Sound Engineering and to him, Music is some kind of meditative magic which he manipulates without truly understanding.
Even with the digital, his mixing style remains deeply anchored in the self-taught technique he acquired on vinyl and is characterized by a preference for nearly constant overlapping of tracks, rarely using short transition techniques. Jaz de Milvun favors improvisation and his sets tend to be unpredictable, contrasted and multi-dimensional voyages. Nevertheless, there are two certainties and those are that he always compose his mixes for the Dance and Trancendance, regardless if he is playing a darker or more uplifting, a primal or a more refined vibe.
