The songwriter founded and played in the Dresden Britrock band “The Smokkings” in 2007, where he also had his first compositional and lyrical experience. In 2013 he finally decided to start his solo project and form a separate backing band: “Johnethen Fuchs & the Woods”.
Since 2014 he has played more than 500 concerts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Partly as part of extensive solo tours, but also with the whole band, for example at various festivals and as a support act for international artists such as Jordan Prince (USA), The Dead Heavys (Ireland), The Bland (Sweden) or Tim McMillan ( Australia).
Located between folk, pop and indie, the songs are partly euphoric, partly melancholic. The debut “Algeroy”, released in 2015, results in a harmonious, partly thoughtful sound experience that you can easily surrender to and let yourself drift wonderfully. The voice falls out of the genre's typical framework: voluminous blues vocals, tender-soft falsetto or snotty, raw rock tube - the surprisingly versatile singing penetrates the often autobiographical songs with dedication.
The second album “Less Is Not Enough”, which was released in 2018, is arranged in a more differentiated and larger way. The title says it all and the 13 songs are about enduring longing, not giving up and striving for more in order to feel alive in every fiber of your body and mind.
After production of the third album stalled in 2020 due to the effects of the corona pandemic, the “Rivertiger EP” with three tracks was released in 2021.
After three more single and music video releases, the album “Enlightened Visions” was released in 2022. In terms of both content and composition, the Brit rocker ventures into deeper areas. In addition to a broader field of musical expression, vulnerability and conscious imperfectionism are what make the artist and his work seem approachable, empathetic and lively. The album concept is about the feeling of alienation combined with the urge to break out of familiar worlds. Various key moments, such as isolation, conflict, reflection and reorientation, are exemplified in the songs. Here the music should provide points of connection and connection.
JOHNETHEN FUCHS now lives in Switzerland, in the beautiful town of Winterthur in the canton of Zurich, continues to tour the country and is already writing new song material again.
On September 6th, 2024 he will release the new single “Never Give Up On Us”, a very emotional and personal song that seems to usher in a new era in terms of the quality of his songwriting and the honesty of his lyrics.
Especially at his live concerts, you can always see how he literally sinks into his songs.
