Kaboo (Jakob Liechti) is a Swiss music producer, sound designer and engineer based between Bern and Kampala. Known for his organic and versatile sound, he avoids pre-made loops and builds music from scratch, often drawing on traditional instrument recordings.
He has collaborated with Swiss acts like Mario Batkovic, Jeans for Jesus, Nativ, Greis and Baze, and with Ugandan stars such as A Pass, Baru, Joshua Baraka, and Beenie Gunter. His Afro-fusion single “Thursday” (with Tai Dai and SoundlykBB) became his biggest success so far, gaining international traction and airplay on BBC Radio 6. In 2024 he also released “8 Ball” with Kamanzi and co-created the Swiss–Ugandan album Longitude 20 with Baru.
Kaboo has contributed to major international projects, including soundtracks with Mario Batkovic for films and the video game Red Dead Redemption 2. His cross-cultural collaborations have established him as a unique sound in both the Swiss and Ugandan music scenes.
