“Aus dem Patriarchat macht Gurkensalat!” (Turn the patriachy into cucumber salad!)
Karl Kave & Durian are fond of polemic slogans, eventhough by closer listening one
could notice their appetite for contractions and slippery terrains. With five albums and
over a hundred concerts in six years, the restless duo moves somewhere between
Darkwave, Post-Punk and Neue Neue Deutsche Welle. They remain true to the
principles of a certain ambiguity and openness for contradictions, but are not afraid to
admit to doubts and existential fears. They hence achieve a balance between
gentleness and bite, between punchline and poetry.
