Born Under Punches Records has only just been born and is hoping for a slow organic growth over the next years. Why "Born Under Punches", because that´s the way I have got to learn over the years. It´s not an easy ride being a composer, performing artist, graphical designer, recording engineer and gig booker all while holding down a day job. If you are an independent artist you know what I mean. Anyway, I have taken the hits and have emerged on the other side, not as a famous musician, but someone who is willing to help artists in the local scene get a head start and avoid some of the punch downs. Music comes first and what I really love doing is working closely with people to dig deep into the meaning of the songs and figure out what really drives it. Many songs these days are so full and thick with sounds that end up just being a distraction and take away from what is really driving the song. Just listen to Iggy and Stooges, 3 musicians making incredibly powerful music with very little production. The energy comes from the performance itself and it cuts right into the soul of the listener. Less is more...yes less IS more Ingie M. But a good performance comes from confidence, and confidence comes from self belief and self belief exists largely in safe spaces. It´s this safe space that I like to create with artists. The rest is just a bunch of technical stuff that´s important, but not as important as the roots and the goal of a pure translation of emotion into the recording.
