LA SIRENA – The Sorceress Dreaming
With The Sorceress Dreaming, Chilean artist LA SIRENA presents a deeply personal body of work shaped by an organic creative process — a collection of songs rooted in loss and love, transformation and surrender. Written, composed, performed and produced by Carolina Stiles, the album brings together her distinctive voice, piano-driven songwriting, and an instinctive approach to creating music.
Behind LA SIRENA is Carolina Stiles — singer, pianist, songwriter and producer. Under the name Linah Rocio, she released a series of albums and EP, including All About Secrets, Warrior Talk (Aveline Records, London), Keep Your Grace, and Armour and the Universe with Linah Rocio & The Lighthearted.
LA SIRENA represents a new chapter in her artistic path — a name that emerged intuitively and reflects the place she finds herself in today.
The starting point for The Sorceress Dreaming was a single fifteen-minute composition.
Originally intended as a standalone recording, the piece soon developed a momentum of its own, becoming the catalyst for an album that brought together songs written over time into a new and cohesive whole.
Trust in the process became central. The core of the album was recorded live at Humm Studio in Bristol with British bassist Dave Ayre and Swiss drummer Eddie Walker over the course of four days. Time was limited. The core arrangements were carefully prepared by Carolina, who entered the sessions with a clear vision and a strong sense of the emotional direction of the work. Working closely with the band, the arrangements were then brought to life in the studio, leaving space for spontaneous decisions that allowed the songs to breathe. Six songs were captured this way, with two more following later. In an industry often shaped by endless revision and the pursuit of perfection, that immediacy became one of the defining qualities of the record.
From the very beginning, the album was shaped by the contributions of Dave Ayre (UK) and Eddie Walker (UK/CH). Dave, based in Stroud (UK), brings a wealth of experience from collaborations with artists such as Joni Mitchell and Muse, as well as work with Hans Zimmer and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Eddie, originally from England but based in Switzerland, is an accomplished drummer well known in the Swiss music scene, performing with acts including Martin Schenkel, Gigi Moto, Back From Mars and Rotosphere. The album was further enriched by contributions from guitarist Jean Pierre von Dach (CH), whose work includes collaborations with Joss Stone and Gigi Moto; trumpet player and improviser Silvan Schmid (CH) of The Gamut Kollektiv; South African artist Brendan Adams; and Swiss singer-songwriter Timothy Jaromir (CH) of Goldschatz.
The album's final sonic landscape was shaped through mixing and mastering by Simon Kistler from Switzerland (Sina, Vera Kaa, Anna Rossinelli). Working closely with LA SIRENA, he crafted a sound that is warm, spacious and quietly immersive, while preserving the immediacy of the live performances.
Musically, The Sorceress Dreaming moves between contemporary pop, intimate songwriting and expansive sonic landscapes. The title track forms the album’s cinematic centre, while the album reveals LA SIRENA’s signature blend of raw emotional honesty, poetic language, and evocative storytelling.
The Sorceress Dreaming is an album about transformation, connection, and the delicate balance between intention and discovery — where carefully shaped songs leave room for something unexpected to emerge.
