Following the captivating debut album Figment (2021), Luna Oku's new single will be released on 12 September.
On Grow, we hear thoughts jumping, hearts fluttering, feel how the colours change and the beat seeps into our feet. Drums, synths and samples nestle against Alon Ben's unmistakable voice, while the chords and melodies develop a powerful musical pull. Luna Oku's sound has become more experimental, more intricate, and also more courageous. Grow took its time: the song was written during the recording of Figment and has blossomed over the last few years to become an important starting point for the new album. Alon Ben cut samples from sessions with musician friends, put them in sequence, overlaid them with new sounds, let parts grow that detach from each other and yet constantly repeat themselves. Grow speaks to us in loops, swirling around a centre that constantly draws us in. We circle the now like
a moth circles the light, approaching this impossible state somewhere between the past and the lure of the future.
