Lunar Blue delivers raw, high-energy funk-rock, defined by punchy basslines, soulful vocals,
tight grooves and powerful guitar riffs.
The band traces its origins back to 2011, when Brugger natives Chiara Dell’Olivo (vocals,
synthesizer), Loris Dell’Ava (guitar) and Federico Manzelli (drums) formed a school band.
After lineup changes and involvement in other musical projects, the trio reunited in 2020
during the pandemic. Shortly afterwards, bassist and sound engineer Jelmer Schippers joined
the group. Since then, Lunar Blue has handled every step of the production process
independently, from recording to the final mix. Following the band’s early days, both
Schippers and Manzelli pursued formal music studies: Schippers specialised in music
production, while Manzelli completed a degree focused on drums.
In 2022, Lunar Blue released their first singles on SoundCloud, followed by their official
Spotify debut 20:20:20 in 2024. Their debut EP will launch in October 2025, with four singles
released monthly. The first track, Wake Up, drops on 10.10.2025, followed by Zip It on
07.11.2025. The EP was written during a dedicated songwriting retreat in the French
Pyrenees in October 2024 and recorded and mixed in February 2025 as a fully independent
production.
Lunar Blue has performed at recognised regional events including Badenfahrt, Jugendfest
Brugg, the Gassenfest in Baden, Festival Tiefenthal and the Music and Lime Festival. The
band has been featured in the leading regional publication Aargauer Zeitung. The Badener
Tagblatt praised their Gassenfest performance, noting: “Lunar Blue also contributed to the
great atmosphere… the crowd was highly motivated.”
