Efe Tarel - «Singing is my life»
God has blessed me with a voice for which I am eternally grateful. I have built my life around the calming feelings I get when I connect with her, I immerse myself in the moments where I just sing, sing and sing until I find myself in my wonderland, without any heartache or pain – Singing is the water I needed to satisfy my sense, my longing for joy and happiness, and I simply danced to pursue any sadness that tried to lurk nearby.
Efe Tarel's biography is inspiring and shows how her passion for music and determination got her through difficult times. It's impressive to see how she has pursued her love of music from childhood to today.
«I am the third child in a family of five children from the Delta State of Nigeria. My parents are originally from Nigeria. Singing has always been something special for me. I started singing in church and at Christian and school activities. I lost my father early. Grew up with my mother, who later remarried. It wasn't easy living with a stepfather who hated me and treated me more like a helpless child, but I think all the torture and pain made me stronger and more determined.
Reading, writing, dancing has helped me a lot in my life. You learn a lot through books and from a young age I learned that knowledge is powerful so I held on to it.
I make it in life so that I can support children in such situations as I was then - and to my advantage - as I call it today. This gave rise to my project “The Angel Voices”.
I completed my education at the University of Jos in Plateu State, Nigeria, with a diploma in marketing. In 1998 I traveled to Germany, where I settled in Delmenhorst and still live and work today."
In Germany, Efe Tarel's voice was discovered in church, where she joined the then community choir "The Ady and Zion" in Bremen as a soloist. She was also known as a singer in the smaller formation “The Black Voices”, which emerged from the larger choir and consisted only of solo singers. With this group she toured all over Germany
In 2015 she decided to start her solo career
«After a while I got tired of constantly repeating the same songs like a parrot, although singing these songs made me very happy, but I know that there is more in me and I really wanted to let out what is inside of me, as I always loved trying out new melody and lyrics, so I started writing down my ideas.
“I hope the message in my songs will be good for people and give them strength for their own lives.”
