MAINSTREET, one of Switzerland's celebrated 80s pop-rock bands, is releasing "NUMBER ONE" – a completely forgotten track discovered after 40 years. Found by founder Ajay Mathur while sorting through unmarked boxes of old 1/4-inch analog tapes, this fully produced song will be available on all major streaming platforms May 9th.
"I was amazed at what I heard – a fully produced song I didn’t even remember ever recording," says Mathur. The track has been preserved in its original form, maintaining the warm, raw analog sound that characterized the band's distinctive early recordings. "It's like finding a gift you forgot you had," adds Mathur. "We're as excited as our fans to rediscover this lost part of our musical history." The song exemplifies MAINSTREET's signature fusion of ska, pop, punk, and alternative rock elements that resonated with fans across Europe. Before disbanding in the early 90s, the band had released four albums, two best-of albums, and multiple singles that ranked on Switzerland's radio hit parades.
