Based in Zurich, Marty McKay is a conceptual artist, writer and vocalist with a socio-critical edge. He is also the (executive) producer behind his endeavors.
After the millennium Marty first started out as a hip hop turntablist where he gained attention as a live DJ on national TV.
Feeling a need for vocal expression, Marty shifted his focus from scratching to rapping and singing. After experiencing a few of life’s most difficult challenges, Marty devoured any book he could find on the subject of psychology and sociology whose themes quickly filtered into his music.
Starting in 2004 Marty joined legendary TV and rap star Vanilla Ice on stage for several tours throughout Europe and California. Marty then started to work on a multimedia project and a started designing a unique sound, blending multiple genres together.
The evolution of his musical journey resulted in McKay’s debut album Sin’s Disciple, a modern-day seven deadly sins analysis, released in the spring of 2014. McKay simultaneously published an illustrated adult fiction novella Dante's Disciple as a back-up story to the CD.
Today, McKay is preparing to release his next album, New York City Dreams, where he shares his experiences while living in The Big City. With this new release, McKay moves away from his previously hard-hitting rap style and into a more melodic approach that reflects a wide spectrum of today's rock genres.
